In 2012, he received The Houston Chapter TAAP Counselor of the Year award, and in 2015, he was awarded the Elves Smith Counselor of the Year Award of Texas. Sports Career

Basketball has been a central part of Ernest’s life. He received a full scholarship to New Mexico State University and was drafted into the NBA by the Chicago Bulls in 1983. Ernest later played professional basketball in Brazil for 13 years and became fluent in Portuguese during his time there.

Sacred Journey to Recovery & The Second Story Project

Ernest is the founder of Sacred Journey to Recovery and co-founder of the Second Story Project. The Second Story Project empowers adolescents by showing them compassion, understanding, and love while helping them navigate life’s challenges. Through its Empowerment Workshop, the project offers a transformative three-day event focused on self-discovery and personal growth.
